The Judgment
“Doctor, the patient’s pulse is weakening, barely
there!”
“Blood pressure is dropping- sixty over twenty!! Dropping, dropping fast.”
“Doctor, no pulse.
No pulse at all.”
In spite of all the tubes, I.V.’s, shots, and
medicines, the patient was not responding.
It didn’t matter. The health care
team continued working frantically on Mary Jane Smith, eighty-two years old, four
months, and three days. It was to no
avail. The E.R. doctor glanced at the
clock and said, “Okay, time of death is 8:22 PM. The ambulance will take her to the
morgue. Our job here is done.”
The medical team filed out of the hospital room. As they left, two “orderlies”, dressed in
brilliant white, slipped into the room.
Each took hold of one of Mary’s hands and carried her into the Eternal
Presence.[1]
Mary had been unconscious for some time. She found herself suddenly awake. The last thing she remembered was the EMTs
entering her house. She glanced to her
right and saw two young men leaving.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice to her
left. She looked over. “Peace to you. I am here to bring you good news. The Advocate has agreed to take your case.[2] The Helper will assist him by bringing to remembrance
all things.[3] The fee has been paid in full by your
Benefactor.”[4]
Mary, always polite, nodded her head. She felt the need to introduce herself. “Thank you.
Pardon, my name is Mary. I take
it you know that. You will excuse me; I
didn’t catch your name?”
“I am Gabriel.
I greet all of the new arrivals.
I have always brought Good News.”[5]
Gabriel finished speaking when the Advocate
arrived. “I am your attorney for the
defense, Mary. Your trial is about to
begin, but don’t worry. It is only a
formality.”
Mary opened her mouth to speak when a horrible stench
reached her nose. “Ohhh!” she said. “What is that?” She pointed to a large box, spewing with
obnoxious odors.
The Advocate answered, “Oh, that. Don’t worry.
Some people’s sins go before them to judgment. This is what is happening in your case. The sins of Mary Jane Smith are going before
her into judgment.[6] Don’t worry; they won’t bother you during the
trial. Some people’s sins follow them
into judgment. Then it is really
bad. But I don’t represent those
people. Their fee has not been paid.”
Men in white pushed the box forward into the
courtroom. Mary was seated on a bench
with the Advocate waiting for her trial.
She had some questions she wanted to ask but felt peaceful sitting in
silence for a few moments. She heard a
voice from inside the courtroom boom out in accusation. “Guilty, Your Honor. Guilty!! Those are the sins I was just telling the
court about. They belong to the
accused.”
The Eternal Judge spoke, and his voice resounded like
the Falls at Niagara. “Bailiff, I won’t
have those sins cluttering up my clean courtroom. Send them on to the judgment.”
“Objection!
Objection!” squealed the Accuser.[7] “They are here as evidence against the
accused!”
“Those sins are guilty as charged,” declared the
Judge. He banged his gavel on the
desk. “Guilty! Bailiff, get rid of them. “
Michael, the Archangel and bailiff for the Supreme
Court of the Ages sent the box of sins on to the judgment. When he was finished with that unpleasant
task, he bellowed, “The next case will be presented: The Accuser of the Brethren
versus one Mary Jane Smith – violation of the laws of the Eternal God!”[8]
The Accuser started to read off the list of sins. The Judge stopped him. “Enough. Anyone who has violated the least of my laws is
guilty of having violated my law. One
violation is sufficient.”[9]
The Advocate rose from his seat outside the courtroom,
whispered a secret to Mary,[10]
and escorted her into the Presence.
Mary’s face was a sea of calm.
Had not the Advocate told her not to worry? The Accuser started ranting. “There she is, Mary Jane Smith! Guilty!
Guilty of having violated your Law, Your Honor.”
The Judge looked at the Advocate, who stood up and said,
“Mary Jane Smith is not here, Your Honor.
She died in the year 33 AD;[11]
she was judged, sentenced, condemned, and executed at that time. The person standing at trial today is not
Mary Jane Smith. I have documentation to
prove that.”
“What?” cried the Accuser. “What kind of trickery is this? I will remind you this is a court mandated by
the Eternal Word; it is in the by-laws of the Constitution itself. It can never be changed.”[12]
“Your Honor,” stated the Advocate. “In accordance with the writings of the
ancient witness, Isaiah, would his Honor glance upon the palm of his hand? He will see there the certificate of New
Birth, granted to this Citizen of Heaven present today.[13] You will be pleased to note the New Name that
has been given her, granted to her,” the Advocate stared directly at the
Accuser, “granted her by the same Constitution, the Eternal Word. No one can know that name except myself,[14]
and of course my Father, for we are One!”[15]
“Objection,” shouted the Accuser.
“On what grounds?” asked the Advocate.
“Yes, what do you object to?” questioned the
Judge. “It is very plain. Mary Jane Smith died by crucifixion in the
year 33 A.D. This woman was granted her New
Name at the age of eleven years, eight months, and four days. The Court accepts this document. It clearly states she was buried in a water-grave[16] four
days after her death, on a Sunday. It is
sealed by the Faithful and True Witness.[17] You
have no grounds for accusation, especially if you don’t even know this
Citizen’s name.”
The Accuser was fuming. “I demand to see her new name. I demand the right to accuse her!”
“Denied!” the Judge declared as he banged his gavel
again. “The documents are sealed under
the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of her testimony, given today by the
Advocate!”[18]
The Accuser started to speak, “I…”
“If it pleases the court, Father… I mean, your Honor,”
the Advocate interrupted. “A decision on
this point can be postponed until after the trial. Then, whomever you have appointed as Officer
of the Court to render judgment and condemnation can decide what to do about
this matter.”
The Judge responded, “As it pleases the Son… I mean
the Advocate. Court is in session. Let us hear the case against one Mary Jane
Smith.”
The Accuser rose and pointed his bony finger directly
at Mary. “That woman has committed
sin. The box of sin, the huge box of
sins that you yourself judged just moments ago, accuses her. Each and every time she sinned, each one of
those sins, shows that she has violated the Law of God. She is guilty.”[19]
The Advocate said, “I would like to see the evidence
of those sins. Where are they?”
“The box that was just here… judged a moment ago… it
is right there in the court documents,” insisted the Accuser. “Your Honor pronounced sentence; ‘Guilty as
charged’ is exactly what you said.”
The Judge replied, “As far as the East is from the
West, so have I separated her sins from her.[20] Until East meets West, any previous evidence
cannot be presented in trial. It has
been cast into the sea of forgetfulness.[21] You must be mistaken. There is no evidence in the court documents
that one Mary Jane Smith has sinned.”
“The Books, open the Books. It has been recorded!”[22]
insisted the Accuser.
“Bailiff, order the opening of the Books.”
Michael, the Archangel ordered his co-bailiffs
to search the records for the sins of Mary Jane Smith. “Your Esteemed Honor,” Michael said after receiving
the report, “the Books have been opened and reviewed. No record of sin by one Mary Jane Smith is recorded. But if it pleases the Court, The Book of Life
records the name of Mary Jane Smith under her old name and the New Name that
has been granted her. In agreement with
the court documents, her name was recorded at the age of eleven years, eight
months, and four days. As such, it can
never be blotted out or removed.”[23]
The Advocate spoke again, “While the Books are opened,
is there any record of good deeds done by this Citizen of Heaven?”
Michael replied, “Yes, quite a few. They have been pre-ordained since before the
foundation of the world. Let me list them
for the court…”[24]
“Objection!”
shouted the Accuser. “It is
recorded in the Constitution that righteous acts shall not be credited. Since the time that Abraham believed and was
declared righteous for his faith, all works are declared null and void and
shall not be credited.”[25]
“Agreed,” said the Judge. “Although it must pain you, Accuser, to cite the
record of my Son.”
“I also agree,” nodded the Advocate. “I simply wanted the good works to be noted
for another time.”
“Very well,” said the Judge. He directed himself to the Accuser. “You have no evidence of sin. Do you wish to continue?”
“Yes, I would call to testify her old life, hiding
under the alias of ‘The Old Man.’ ”[26]
The Advocate objected.
“Your Honor, the Court has already decreed the Old Man was buried in a
water-grave four days after Mary Jane Smith’s death. Therefore it has no right to testify since it
is dead and buried.”[27]
The gavel banged, “Objection sustained. The Old Man has been buried and cannot
testify. Does the Accuser have any other
evidence to render?”
“Your Honor, this is wrong,” said the Accuser. “It’s unfair that you and the Son have
conspired against me!”
“No!” said the Judge.
“Because of the work of my Son, Eternal Justice flows from my throne.[28] Therefore I can be Just and the Justifier of
the ungodly.[29] The plan we have ordained before the world was
formed cannot be brought into judgment.[30] Now, do you have any further evidence?”
The Accuser grew red in the face. He had one more card to play. “No, but I demand trial by jury. To assist the Court, I have asked Beelzebub
to be foreman of the jury, and he has chosen seven other demons more vile than
himself.[31] I insist they render the verdict in this
case.”
“Can they render a fair verdict?” asked the
Judge.
“Yes, yes we can,” shrieked the Jury. “Guilty!!
The Sinner is guilty as charged!”
The Advocate spoke.
“We do not object, Your Honor. He
who did not know sin or guilt became Sin for the accused in order that she
might become the righteousness of God.[32] Substitution has been arranged since the year
33 AD.[33] Father, you will remember when you turned
your face from me, even as King David prophesied, ‘Why have you forsaken me?’[34] Just as Moses lifted up the Bronze Serpent,
even the Son was lifted up that eternal life be granted to the accused today…
and not only for her, but for all who believe.”[35]
“Judgment! I
demand Judgment!!” shouted the Accuser.
“Guilt has been assigned by the Jury.
I demand Judgment!”
“All Judgment has been given into the hands of my Son.[36] Who is the one who judges? Is it not the same who advocates for the accused?[37] What then is the judgment?”
The Son of God arose, “Eternal life, I grant the
judgment of Eternal life!”[38]
“No!!!” wailed the Accuser. “I insist on a fair condemnation!”
The Judge responded.
“Who is he that condemns? Is it
not the same one who died for the Accused?”[39]
“Neither do I condemn,”[40]
agreed the Son. “She may go in peace and
enter into the joy of her Lord.”[41]
“This case is settled then,” decided the Judge. “Welcome, Daughter, into my Joy.”
Mary was led out of the courtroom and into
Paradise.
As Mary was ushered into Paradise, the scene in the
courtroom changed. John Jacob Jones was
dragged in, bound with chains hand and foot.[42] He did not have the Advocate to defend him
against the Accuser.
“Guilty as charged. Send him away to the place of weeping and
gnashing of teeth! ” the Judge declared.
It was at that exact moment his sins were brought into the chamber as
well. It did not bode well for John Jones.
No, it did not bode well at all.
